Welcome to the site of Owens Boer Goats! Owens Boer Goats is
located in Upstate South Carolina and is owned and operated by Earl &
Tina Owens and family. Our experience with goats started when Earl
bought Nubians to clean up some troublesome Kudzu. He was happy with
his Nubians, but developed a curiosity for those “big ole white goats
with the red heads”. Over time, we switched from dairy influenced
goats to Pygmys, then on to Spanish crosses, and finally purchased
some percentage Boers. We attended a few Boer goat shows and fell in
love with the show quality fullbloods. We had never seen such
beautiful animals! We promptly came home, sold everything in the
barn, and bought our first “show quality” Boer Goats. We entered a
few shows and found out really fast what last place felt like……and we
didn’t like it. All in all, I think we sold out and started over
about three times before we found the quality of animals we were
looking for. We did our first flush in the spring of 2004, and those
kids moved to the top of the class in the show ring. Our second
flush, in fall 2004, put the kids on the ground we have been looking
for from the start, and our 2005 show year has been our best yet. It
has taken a lot of hard work, but our breeding program has finally
become something we are proud of, and something we want to share with
